I wanted to share with you some feelings and observations following the Feldenkrais lesson about a week ago. As you remember I discussed the image of walking more straight, less “coiled-in”, and it translated after the lesson from the physical to the emotional, highlighting a shift in my attitude – less defensive, internalized and silent, and in general more open to accepting myself.

On a more physical level, I went dancing a couple of days ago and realized a whole new area in my upper torso, chest ribs and shoulders, which literally opened up for me. At the same time I also experimented with the notion of allowing myself to follow my natural tendencies to flex, which in turn resulted in wonderful motions of extensions both in length and width – pure joy and fun.

Wonderful way
Wonderful teacher
Thanks.

Through Doron's gentle and insightful guidance I relearned simple movements that were less stressful and taxing on parts my body that experienced chronic pain. The experience improved my quality of life by teaching me to re-think and ultimately relearn some of my most basic movements that I had taken for granted - movements such as sitting up. I always looked forward to my lessons with Doron as I always learned something new, and integrated the movements we practiced in our lessons in my day to day life. My experience with Doron and Feldenkrais provided me with an awareness of my body's movements that I lacked before or simply took for granted.

I cannot summarize the benefits I draw from your teaching. It is in all the little movements of daily life. I exercise my brain to perceive and notice. Tiny movements are felt in the rest of my body, from the way I am standing on both my legs and prepare my back to support the lateral movement of my shoulder blades to the care I take not to worsen my forearms and elbows.

We may have done almost nothing in recent lessons directly related with my heel problem, the calcanean spur, but as a matter of fact, all this postural and kinetic, motional and emotional attention that I have given to walking and moving has assured my step, calm down my fear and procured me a more sound and solid pace and walk, which has in turn releaved my left heel (after 9 months of struggle) and the responsible right ankle. I am obviously walking differently and don't feel anymore the very typical pain in my heel when I wake up and stand up in the morning.

So, thank you Doron, for all you did for me this year, for having this approach where body and spirit are one, for the care and affection you give to all your students, making them sense what they can achieve for themselves. I am so happy to have met you and I thank you for all this.

Doron is intelligent, multitalented, a skilled communicator. Highly well trained; he clearly loves and is devoted to his work. He combines all this with a generosity of spirit, sincere interest and sensitivity towards the individual needs and unique learning processes of his students. I have benefited from Doron's extraordinary Awareness Through Movement lessons for the past two years.

His classes take place in a safe, relaxed learning atmosphere which he fosters with his calm, mature authority, and light touch. Except for a few of us Doron’s students were new to Feldenkrais work but are now part of his on-going and ever-growing following. Whenever class ends I see mirrored on faces or hear expressed, the comfort and self discovery he has enabled us to experience.

I am honored to share what I know of this especially gifted teacher who demonstrates so much of what inspires me about teaching and learning, as an educator for over 30 years and long time Feldenkrais student.

I was new to Feldenkrais and didn't know what to expect. I started feeling good things in my body from the start. The most important experience happened to me in the 3rd or 4th session and it was startling! When we got up at the end of the session and started to walk around the room, my feet landed on the floor "grounded" maybe for the 1st time in my life, I'm not sure...but I have been taller and more grounded ever since!
